Multiple people in 2-1 have Squad that I know of. I also recently started playing Warband but as I'm a peasant who couldn't care less about Napoleon, I only play native. I would definitely recommend DCS to anyone. I mean, look, at least half of aviation plays it along with the Platoon JTAC and I heard that 2-1 Alpha TL can't stop bothering people about how good the Hornet is.
  6. Other games

I have questioned this to myself a lot but how many of arma 3 players have SQUAD?

  17. PERSCOM: New Application From Otto Skorzeny

Otto Skorzeny is not allowed as it's a breach of one of our Standard Operating Procedures and one of our General Orders. General Order Three Discussion I understand that racism, trollish behaviour and sending of explicit content is not tolerated in any 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment medium. SOP Enlistment Applicant must utlilize a role-play friendly name. This name does not have to be your name, but it must be a realistic name that can be utilized easily in combat. 20. Questions for Infantry

MOUT is fun, but you suddenly need a lot more people. Two is one and one is none. Take Lakka, for example, a small village near Airbase Jordan on Altis - that's a Platoon work, right there. At the same time it offers unparalleled threats, solutions and opportunities. If you're immersed enough, that'll send your adrenaline levels through the roof, and to be honest with you, personally, that is when I'm truly ALIVE. Armored vehicles become tedious and not fun when it's unfair (also known as realistic). Feel free to keep sending them at us one by one in a MOUT scenario where we bring or can scrounge up enough AT that can reliably destroy or disable the vehicle (BMPs, Bradleys, BTRs, M113s, that sort of stuff - no MBTs on a regular basis as even AT4 and Gustav have trouble reliably dealing with them). If you're using it for long-range engagement as you realistically should, a single BMP-2 in hull-down may very well be more than enough for an entire op. One thing in regards to armor I did in my Zeusing days is, I pre-determined how much armor the enemy commander has available and then pre-placed it in the editor in positions I deemed realistic. This way, no armor engagement was a matter of taking it up the ass from the Zeus, but rather an encounter that they could've learned of before it happened and prepared/planned accordingly to negate the advantages of the armor. What you can alternatively do, if you want armor to act as a QRF, is to have a pre-determined position where you'll be spawning it, out of the way. This way it has to travel a significant distance into position, giving people the chance to spot it early and improvise around it's advantages (but it still comes at them realistically, not by driving out from behind a house you just spawned it behind). They both offer significantly different play styles. With insurgents you can have quick strikes and ambushes with them blending back into the populace right after, or utilizing IEDs and general guerilla tactics. With a conventional force, you should expect combined arms, fire support, effective communications and maneuvering into your flanks/rear with thrusts anywhere between a fireteam to a company's worth. To give a particular example out of nowhere, in a campaign that is outcome-driven (success and failure in the field affect what happens next in the campaign) in one mission, you can be defending an airfield, in the next the enemy can attempt to encircle the airfield and depedning on their success either force a either a breakthrough/evacuation in a very hostile air space with MiG-29s and Eagles duking it out for air supremacy or a counter assault that aims to drive the enemy back away from the airfield and potentially decimate any pockets of resistance your success in repelling the flanking maneuver left. With a conventional force, at any time you can expect them to try to use air assets and artillery/MLRS to overwhelm your position with fire before a large combined arms where BMPs close with you and deploy infantry while being supported by T-90s from the rear, still applying air support and artillery to dislodge resistance. Insurgents are more likely to attempt to inflict casualties by hit-and-run. IEDs, snipers, RPGs, hidden in the environment waiting for the perfect moment to seriously cripple any BLUFOR in the area with much fewer and much smaller engagements overall.

  24. Questions for Infantry

    1. urban combat to me means ull be dealin with quite some house clearing, multi story combat, rooftop ambushes etc. armored threat can be present but usually pretty low. 2. to me personally when u have to deal with too many armored threats within the same engagement(needing more AT supplies than ud usually carry as a fireteam/squad) also making the engagements very long range allowing the armored vehicles to rain death and despair before ur even able to pull out ur AT and zero in. 3. personally i love fighting both, i feel like we could use a bit more serious effort surrounding civilians and possible insurgents. I hope this helps
  25. Questions for Infantry

Hey guys. Krausk here. For you ground hoofers out there, I have a few questions. What, in your opinion, makes a compelling urban combat mission? While in an engagement against armored vehicles, at what point does it become tedious and unfun? Do you prefer to fight conventional or insurgent forces? Reply to as many as you please. As I begin the production of my main campaign story-line, I need to gain an understanding of the infantryman's mindset.
